The School of Computing at Leeds is a leading international centre for computing research, in the top-10 of UK computer science departments, as confirmed by the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise which rated 80% of staff as internationally excellent or world leading. The User Modelling and User Adaptive Systems group is part of the Knowledge Representation and Reasoning stream within the Institute for Artificial Intelligence and Biological Systems which pioneering an integrative and broadly-based study of intelligent systems.

Our expertise and experience relevant to MATURE is in intelligent technologies for knowledge capture. We are focusing on user-adaptive tools to assist domain experts defining ontologies and on capturing community knowledge and experiences with semantic wikis. Projects relevant to MATURE are:

  • Confluence (capturing knowledge of Geography experts) and
  • AWESOME (capturing community knowledge in dissertation writing)
